Country Style Clothes
I’ve always liked country style clothing – waxed jackets, aran wool jumpers, tartan scarves and more. This way of dressing is the epitome of the autumn season and never seems to date as it is such a classic style.
If you are not warm in your colouring and you want to embrace this style, you could substitute navy or black items in place of olive or khaki green.
Here are a few items you will need to dress country style:
A Waxed Jacket
A waxed jacket is an essential item for this look. The one above is from Barbour waxed jackets but there are other companies that do them. They mostly come in olive green, navy, brown and black.
A Gilet
You can wear a gilet under a waxed jacket for extra warmth, or on its own over a plain or striped long sleeved top or a shirt. They are usually quilted or padded or they can be in a fleecy material. They are available in many shops and online.
A Tartan Scarf
This scarf above is from House of Bruar and is cosy in wool. You could buy one in a colour to match your wax jacket.
A Cable Knit or Aran Jumper
Typically worn in cream but looks good in other colours too.
Wellington Boots
They vary from expensive (Hunters) or you can get them much cheaper in a garden centre or on Amazon. Buy them in a colour to match your jacket.
Tweed or Check Jacket
In browns but can be in black and white or blues
Skinny Jeans
They need to be skinny enough to be able to tuck into boots or wellingtons.
Leather Boots
Chelsea boots, above, look great with country style clothing. Knee high boots are good too.
Hat
Real country types go for a fedora type hat but you could wear a knitted hat.
Gloves
Leather gloves are essential to keep warm. You could wear woollen or cashmere gloves if you prefer.
As mentioned above, these classic country style items of clothing never go out of date and if you buy good quality, they will last you for a long time and you will always look great. Do you have any of this type of clothing in your wardrobe?
